Quito, Quito and well Quito

As you might have understood from the title I didn't really go that far away for the weekend, meaning I just stayed in Quito. First where we went out on Friday evening to the Finn McCools to play pool, drink a beer and just have a good time. The only drawback to me for this bar is that there are some too quit streets between our house and the bar so you have to watch out for muggers. But this is a bit of the general trend in Quito as at night it's just not as safe as Europe. On Saturday morning I was the first to wake up as I went home earlier then the rest did and therefore as well spent a bit less money in the bar as I would like to call it so I was feeling okay the day after, which could not be said of some of the people at the compound.

So since The rest was still lying dead in their beds anyway I went with Karen who was leaving that day to the handicraft market in the near the Mariscal area. Looking at everything and ignoring salespeople all the time I still came home with a genuine Panama hat which despite it's name is originally made in Ecuador. But of course Karen needed way more stuff as she had to do souvenir shopping for the whole family so I still came to see the whole market anyway but because we left a little late she also had to hurry. So on our way back home we came across two of the German guys, who were going to the Dutch pub to look the German cup final. As Everyone already thinks I'm half German I decided to go and watch with them. The game was really good with a 5-2 win for Dortmund after we returned it was time to lay down for half an hour and just be lazy before going to play pool at the Finn McCools before having a very simple dinner and going to bed early on a Saturday.

As Sunday came it was time to listen live to the play off game between VVV and Cambuur but the first 30 minutes I had no Internet ... And the rest of the game I escaped almost 4 times from a heart attack I guess... But VVV won, so I was terribly happy :-) and worried at the same time because the game was supposed to be not that good... let's see what they bring in the last round of the playoffs, but enough professional football. The rest of the Sunday we spent in the park playing soccer with the street kids. These had more attention for shooting themselves than for passing the ball in any way next to this they were quite friendly and a bit stinky. After we gave them a cookie and looked if we still had everything we went back home for some food and a lazy Sunday evening movie! And now it is already Monday again and the first working day of the week!

But I have things to look forward to like the jungle tour which I finally confirmed so from the 4th of June until the 8th I will be in the Jungle! I really have to remind myself that I have to buy Mosquito repellent. And a few normal food snacks to survive the Jungle or I will come back like a Michelin mascot all swollen from the stings ...
